Solar Decathlon

Welcome from Crowder College and Drury University. You’ve found our website detailing everything you need to know about our joint entry into the 2015 Solar Decathlon.

The Solar Decathlon is an interdisciplinary, elaborate, challenging, and engaging opportunity for college students across the country. In this competition students must design, market, build, and operate a solar powered home. Teams must first submit a project proposal to the committee, and from those applicants 20 schools are selected for competition.

Since its first year in 2002, the Solar Decathlon has involved 112 teams and nearly 17,000 students. Its success has even allowed it to spread internationally to Europe, Latin America, and China.

The competition features 10 judged contests:

  • Architecture
  • Market Appeal
  • Engineering
  • Communications
  • Affordability
  • Comfort Zone
  • Appliances
  • Home Life
  • Commuting
  • Energy Balance
